Margo MacArthur

Margo MacArthur is a San Francisco-based street photographer with a keen eye for composition of light, shade, and structure.  She enjoys capturing candid moments of everyday San Franciscans going about their lives in the shadow of one of the world’s great international cities.  Self-taught, she became an avid photo enthusiast from her childhood days starting with her beloved Kodak Instamatic.  After several years working in finance at the Chicago Board of Trade, she spent a dozen years as an Executive Producer at a Chicago based Film Production Company, honing her eye for composition and framing, while mastering the nuances of working in a major film production community.  She has participated in several street photography seminars and walking photography tours in New York, Mexico City, and San Francisco.  Her work has been exhibited in several galleries across the nation, including New York, Portland, Minneapolis, and Vermont as well as at home in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She was awarded Honorable Mention in the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards in 2024 and was featured in a street photography edition of All About Photos magazine.  Recently, her photos were part of a collective exhibition with five other San Francisco-based women street photographers at the Bartolini Gallery at the Marin Civic Center. She likes to travel to new places far and near, her Sony a7iii always at her side.
