Anne-Marie De Rivera

Anne-Marie was born in New York of Belgian and Dutch parents, raised exclusively in the French language until the age of 10. She has resided in many countries, from the U.S. to Canada, Chile and Switzerland, graduating from l’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Geneva.
Her work is a blend of the European education of her early childhood, combined with the colors, passion, and folklore of Latin America which she assimilated through her travels
Her main influences are the “Fauves” ("wild beasts"), a loosely allied group of artists sharing a similar approach, including Matisse, Gauguin, Chagall, and Rouault, among others.
Following 12 years in Mexico, she relocated to California in 1976 and, after raising her two children, rekindled her passion for painting in 1988 and resumed her studies at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, and the College of Marin, in Kentfield, CA.
Anne-Marie continues her work in the historic ICB Art Center in Sausalito.
