Arran Harvey

Arran Harvey is a visual artist working primarily in drawing and acrylic paints on paper and canvas. He lives in Santa Barbara California and currently teaches Drawing at Allan Hancock Community College in Santa Maria California, as well as teaching online drawing courses for Sierra College. He has had recent paintings exhibited in juried group exhibitions at Gallery Site: Brooklyn, the Long Beach Island Foundation in New Jersey, the Ridley Gallery at Sierra College, and the Brand Library and Art Center in Glendale California.  He received the first place award in the annual Works On Paper exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation  in 2024, juried by Kim Conaty, curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art.  Harvey has also had paintings published in New American Paintings and Studio Visit Magazine.
Harvey received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2001. He has been teaching drawing in person and online since 2021. Previous to his current position at Allan Hancock College, he taught drawing and life drawing at Moorpark College in the Ventura Community College District.  Previous to teaching experience, Harvey worked as a fine arts registrar for major museums and art collections in the San Francisco Bay Area including: San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (deYoung and Legion of Honor), as well as for the art collection of the Lucasfilm Archive.  Harvey will also begin teaching as an adjunct instructor for Santa Barbara City College in the Fall of 2025.
