Mariposa smile is a woodcut print depicting Eric Gutierrez dressed in drag as a catrina. I met Eric while he lived in Stockton, CA. Eric has never been afraid to express the fullness of his two spirits as a queer native. He showed me how it can be possible to be proudly gay and indigenous without failing or being disrespectful of the heritage and history associated with two backgrounds.
