This is from a photograph of a Buddhist monastery in Japan. How did this little boy get here? He can't be more than 4. He can't read the sutras or meditate on Noble Truths. Was he abandoned at the gate? Who looks after him? Who plays with him? Does he have toys? He looks so friendly and calm. Does he run through the meditation hall causing a ruckus? Does he miss his mother?
