The painting, Shelly, is a portrait of my sister. In this portrait, Shelly is wearing a dress that belonged to our grandmother in the 50's. Bringing life back into the dress and memorializing it in a painting felt special. The photo reference for this painting was taken nearly a decade ago but I did not paint it until the height of the pandemic. While painting, I noticed that to the far right of my sister is a stack of several versions of the board game, "Pandemic." It was a weird and fortuitous coincidence.
