Charlie was a very dear and sensitive gentle man from Georgia. I especially enjoyed painting his portrait while I was living in Westchester County NY, because there were unfortunately so few people of color living there. When Charlie viewed the finished painting, he liked it very much and said, " You isn't painting me black, you is painting me blue."
