Currently, Latinx artists and the overall Latinx community have been underrepresented in the arts; living in the United States they are often overlooked as Americans and exotified as Latin.
Latinx Identity is expressed here, note the complexion of the mother.
In this painting, we can see the message that family is relatively a strong cultural characteristic amongst the Latinx diaspora that is instilled through the generations.
Furthermore, a part of Latinx Identity can be rooted in the idea of a culturally strong matriarchal influence, made apparent here due to the absence of a father figure while displaying a female role model as the main subject.
