A portrait painting of Howard Wood, a Scottish environmental activist whose actions gave citizens a voice in the debate that has been dominated by the commercial fishing industry. I chose to paint Howard Wood because of his message and what he fought for. His focus centered around fishing and the ocean, something I hold a deep connection to. Painting Howard and researching his work made me understand how much the ocean meant to him as well. He fought against large corporations for something he believed was unjust.
