This is a painting of my son during his early post college life. It was a time in life where one feels the jubilation of being finally independent and the reality of what that really means. He had just graduated from the theater program at NYU and was striving to find his way in music and theater.

This was a challenging painting for me as I knew his his face intimately and struggled to get it right. I came to appreciated the minute nuances in the turn of a lip or exact the length of one's nose. While painting I experienced a flood of emotions and felt I imbued the painting with the love a mother feels for her child.
