“Spirit of the Ghinko” is the sixth in my three-year series about Woodlands.
After starting its life as an abstract spray painting it was then given a tree and several autumn-gold ghinko leaves varying in size to suggest space and distance. And then I added my granddaughter aged 5 on the left, holding a fan of leaves showing all the colors of the season. I added the large leaves behind her to suggest wings, and she has became the spirit of the ghinko. The tree disappeared and Romeo the cat popped up on the right side, while a blue pond got painted at the bottom and the tree reappeared in blue. Then a big surprise – bouquet of orchids flowering in the center of the painting.
