I am most interested in people when they are in a time of transition and at such times it can be hard to paint a fixed picture of the person. I made this sculpture of my daughter when she was attempting to remake herself to save a relationship. The pain of attempting to shed part of herself and become someone less isolated, and more social, shows in the outer shell. The fear of coming out of hiding is there but there is a contentment in the inner core which reflects the fulfillment of relationship.
