2018

This is my grandfather, holding onto my mother and uncle, with a cousin my mother didn't like. (That boy is less-defined and pushing out to the left of the canvas.) I worked from an old photo and wanted to show how fleeting the moment was, with the background merging into their bodies and the air swirling around. The only solid part is my grandfather's strong arm, trying to hold onto them. While I was painting this I couldn't get over how handsome my grandfather was!
