Peter is a friend of mine who was kind enough to sit for his portrait. Our goal was to have a collaborative artistic experience, drawing on James Lord's book, "A Giacometti Portrait." wherein Lord sits for Alberto Giacometti over about 25 portrait sessions. Due to life and work intervening, we did not get to complete that many sessions. The painting "declared" itself after just a few. I hope Peter will sit for me again, and we can try to get in more sessions, wherein, in the manner of Giacometti, I become more willing to destroy what I have, and start again, knowing that the remains of the image now buried will shine thru in the end.
