I wanted to research about environmental activism and challenge myself to create an art piece highlighting an activist in the 21st century. I found Małgorzata Górska on the Goldman Environmental Prize website. She was the winner of the Goldman Prize in 2010 and was an important figure in preserving the wildlife in Poland by preventing the destruction of Poland's Rospuda Valley. I chose to represent Górska because I believe her work helped preserve the beauty of Poland. My family is Polish and lives in Poland, and I couldn't imagine the country without its beautiful nature. Painting and learning about her helped me understand more about my culture and how important nature is to our world.
