My painting of Gloria Majiga-Kamoto was dedicated to her winning the 2021 Goldman Environmental Prize for the continent of Africa. I painted my portrait on recycled cardboard to better connect to Majiga-Kamoto's environmental activism. Ms. Majiga-Kamoto's dedication to her activism inspired me, as I saw someone organize their community to reform the organizations polluting their environment. Thanks to her efforts, the government of Malawi imposed a ban on thin plastics, resulting in penalties to companies that continued to import, produce, and distribute such items. Projects like this introduce me to a story that I would never have otherwise heard of.
