I painted "William" as part of a series I made in 2016 - 2017 in which I painted people previously unknown to me that I encountered randomly, individuals who struck me as embodying a true sense of self. My ambition in the series was to capture and convey their self-confidence and comfort in their environment as a means of celebrating the beauty of humanity.
