I approached this group of friends at a neighborhood concert in Berkeley, CA where I lived during the '70's. In the early 70's hippies knew that sense of openness, whimsy and joy. They looked as if they'd emerged from a Time Machine but indeed there is a whole new generation who are somehow intimately connected to the ethos of the first wave as they are to each other.
