My husband and I were living in Beijing in February of 2020 when covid started. Everything in this city of over 20 million people suddenly became stagnate. Stores, restaurants, hotels, schools and factories, all closed. No traffic on the boulevards and no people on the sidewalks, or buses. What people could feel was a suffocating surreal quiet diffusing in the air.
We isolated ourselves in our apartment. My husband read books with a glass of wine while I picked up a fine pencil and started to draw. That is our way to keep life going in this unprecedented pandemic season.
