2020

I am a swimmer in addition to being an artist and an educator. My source for physical, spiritual, social and emotional satisfaction and artistic inspiration—swimming pools (see: DeYoung Museum, “Open” exhibit, entry #319) were closed in March, 2020 until further notice because of the covid 19 pandemic.

And since my artistic output of the past 21 years has been a direct response to my time at the pool, what next? The profound question was to how to deal with the isolation brought on by covid 19. Daily walks in my neighborhood of 21 years with my camera in hand became my new narrative for exercise as well as the scratch to my restless artistic itch. One day I turned the camera on myself.
