I went to Cuba in early 2020. At an antique fair I bought some old photographs. One photo had this woman on it from 1918. She stares at me from the past in her white dress with a curious look about her, like she is peering into the future. I felt drawn and connected to her, this stranger from long ago. I painted her on old book pages and documents and added the graphic elements behind her.
