This carved and painted wood sculpture is a portrait of a former Gallerist in Portland, Oregon. Mark likes to dress up, and cowboy attire is sometimes his choice with a silver steer belt buckle and bright red Western boots. The actual steer skull hung outside my Oakland Studio for many years gathering a patina of Industrial grit. I brought it with me when moving to Portland in 2013 and carved a basswood replica to fit on Mark's head. I call it Range Roamer because we all have dreams of the Wild West.
