As an artist who works with found plastic materials, doing portraits creates a challenge. The subject needs to have one or two characteristics that they are noted for, like Frida Kahlo's eyebrows or Iris Apfel"s glasses. The cellist Misha Maisky's face was so distinctive that it made him a perfect subject. I first saw him perform on video and look forward to seeing him perform in person in a few weeks at the Herbst.
