After my mother died in 2005, my father began visiting me regularly at my art studio. Of course he was lonely and he wanted some kind of purpose. I asked him to sit for me so I could do his portrait which he seemed to take great pleasure in. He sat on the steps leading up to the loft, his figure lit by the side window. He was satisfied with the outcome.
