Q. Why did you choose to represent this person?
I wanted a series of women to reveal various aspects of her beauty and strength. These women came through to me in stages, and my treatment of them has taken me years to get them to the next place. Rendering their presence through the natural elements that might reveal a part of their mythology and their natural presence in the world. The idea women are not capable of being in the same position as men are part of her erasure.
Q. How did you choose to represent this person? I recognize shared sensibilities as a woman. These are a few of my strongest compositions on women on wood panels allowing their natural essence to glow.
