Drawing from an old photo of my grandmother when she was about 25 which should have been around 1935. Her name was Sara and lived in Quito, Ecuador. I used graphite and greenish graphite too to give it that old photography feeling. For her coat, which i wanted to give it that weight and live of substance, I used photos of all her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. My grandmother was a strong person who lived with her mind sharp as a knife until 96 and who was a true matriarch. Her family, though she wasn't fond of little kids, but older children and grandchildren with whom she could interact, was a huge part of her life and therefor I wanted to represent it as part of her coat.
