Girl on couch is a painting of my daughter. Seated with a mix of light rain and the afternoon sun behind her, a champagne glass in hand, my daughter is celebrating her graduation from college. She wears her brownness and Indian jewelry with pride – something I was unable to do myself. While her quiet confidence is palpable with her direct gaze, and poised yet comfortable posture, she remains an enigma to me.
