In 2015, I was commissioned to paint my friends favorite SF Giants pitcher, Tim Lincecum. While watching him play, I did numerous gesture drawings observing his extraordinary body strength, energy and sustained skills.
By making all of the sketches and this oil painting on canvas "Giants #55" , I became more familiar and have great admiration for his style, how he moves, his amazing form as he winds up to pitch the ball. My intention was to capture that energy and movement in the picture.
Sadly, he was injured shortly after completing the painting and no longer played for the SF Giants.
