The initial drawing was in 2007. The second was done several years later, 2014.

I took my niece, Kristin to an art workshop several years ago. One of the exercises was to do a blind contour drawing which I had never done before. I did a very wonky drawing in pen and ink. It was pretty funny but it did capture her & her baseball cap. A few years later I drew her again using a now more developed contour method and it truly resembled her and her intense focus as she was reading. It connected me to her and convicted me of the negative self talk I was in the habit of doing. I realized I was influencing her by my negative self talk. And I began focusing on who I was as a whole person, including being an artist.
