This is a portrait of my partner. He is contemplative. Sometimes serious. Thoughtful. This is the first time I painted his portrait though I often draw him when he is unaware and engaged in something else. Or when we're in a restaurant. Usually it's something quick, using whatever I have on hand such as a napkin or the back of an envelope. In the course of making this painting, I learned that he had always wanted his portrait painted.
