CJ provides a much needed trim to Grandfather Michael's beard and mustache. Michael had been exposed to Agent Orange in Viet Nam as a member of the SeaBees. Now, forty years later, he had been diagnosed with Dementia.

Upon learning of his Grandfather's declining health, CJ quit his job in Texas and moved to help his grandmother in California care for his grandfather. As Michael's health further declined, he was placed in a Veteran's hospital then transferred to Hospice where he was exposed to Covid 19 and later passed.

I was moved to create a painting of this intimate moment between our friend Mike and his grandson CJ.
