I began my career in 1988 at UCSF Health, as Director of Art for Recovery, working with very young men who were living and dying of AIDS. When COVID hit, I found myself reflecting what these young men might have looked like had they lived and grown old. I could see them in my mind's eye. I remember their stories. I remembered how they nursed their partners until they died, and then found themselves with the same disease. I reflected on their strength, their ability to find hope when there was no cure, and yet, they found a way to teach us all about living. There are a series of six young men. This is how I imagine these young men might have looked like had they lived and grown old.
