I painted a series about digital technologies with roots in analog practices. For sound mixing, I asked my career-long mentor and friend Steve to pose for me. Among many things, he is an awesome DJ and we share some musical tastes (especially freestyle & synths). When I came over for reference shots, I was checking out the equipment and a crate of vinyl when he said "Wait! Hold on...". He came back 5 minutes later in this outfit: a Run DMC shirt, gold chain, shades, bucket hat, and (not visible here, but utterly perfect) cargo shorts. He's a leader in the design community & has made an impact on many people's careers, so seeing this side of him makes me love this painting even more.
