Tom Mogensen, a San Francisco Bay Area Figurative artist, painted fellow artist John Langley Howard who was well into his 90s. They drew together for years at Charles Griffin Farr's Monday morning drawing group. Tom and Lang remained friends until Lang's death in 1999. The bee on the string is an ode to Lang's artwork on the covers of Scientific American magazines during the 50s and 60s.
