Artist Jess McVey told me she always wanted to pose for a life-drawing session, and asked a few of the Hunters Point Shipyard women artists to draw her. Three of us showed up at her studio for a private session. Jess made exquisite, very honest work and was very concerned about environmental issues.
I was still a little surprised when she whipped off her top, but we were used to drawing nude models and carried on drawing. I did about 6 ink portraits using a fan brush. This one included part of her lovely polar bear sculpture.
