I choose to represent Athena as my inner child that was forgotten in the darkness for a few decades of my life. Because I stand with Athena and love her for who she is and what she has gone through. During my therapy with a psychiatrist to treat complex PTSD, the visual image of my inner child appeared on my mind. It was painful and difficult trying hard to let it go. I couldn’t get ride of that image out of my mind therefore started painting it on the canvas. Making this picture helped me better understand suffering, emotions, feelings, and loss in grief and realize resilience and strength in me. It allowed me to integrate my past and the present for growth and hopes.
