My Dad, Lloyd Parry, was sitting alone, on his 90th Birthday. He may have been reflecting on his life. He was modest, did what was required of him, and never complained. The effects of being a bomb disposal technician in WW II, or unrealized dreams may have been going through his mind. To me, he was an unassuming hero. He didn't notice me drawing him, but when he saw my portrait of him, he was clearly thrilled. It was like a confirmation of his existence. My rendering brought me full circle in understanding him - a contemplative, quietly resolute individual, who was always looking ahead.
