This was my first self portrait, done during a drawing class as a novice to soft pastels. Students held up mirrors and drew themselves. As you can see, I took the assignment very seriously. Looking back in time, however, the painting also captures my quiet intensity, which is a part of my personality, and the many feelings I was grappling with at that time. Taking the class was a respite from my full-time job administrative job interacting with people all day.
