Dave and his dog Bubble live around the corner from my studio in downtown LA, right in the beginning of Skid Row. One Sunday I walked by as they were sitting on the stoop listening to Tupac and just enjoying the day. Dave looked particularly dapper so I asked if I could snap a pic. He agreed, scooped up little Bubble and gently sat him on his lap. I wanted to convey both the sweet relationship between this large imposing man and his beloved little dog as well as capture Dave's spirit. From the creativity of the colors of his and Bubble's outfits, to his ruggedly handsome face and deep green eyes, I see a man who's endured some hardships but who's creative and loving soul shines bright.
