This is my daughter who is made of light. The brightest and most exuberant soul I have ever encountered. This is a painting of her from when she was seven. I wanted to capture the light of her at that age - only to understand, as time went on, that her light gets bigger and brighter with every passing day. I loved the time it took to paint this as it was spent largely reflecting on the experience of mothering this incredibly dynamic person. Painting her pulled me into her presence in a quieter way than the bustle of daily life.
