2008-2009

This mixed media piece features an old photo of my mom, June, collaged with solvent-decayed prints. The original photograph was part of a beloved archive of my grandmother Lena. June was the youngest child and only daughter and her memories, albeit fond, would sometimes have a feeling of longing for what could have been had she been born a boy. June was kind, compassionate, and always willing to give of herself and be helpful to anyone she met. Her inner strength shone through each and every day.
