Mr. Hill started as my high school math teacher, but he was only 8 years older than me and he became a friend. He was my confidant and my rock. I stage managed his plays and he helped me to feel grounded. It's been nearly 40 years and he still has my back. He's still my cheerleader. He turned 60 last year, his best year yet, and I made this painting of him, for him. It was a way of pouring all the love I didn't know how to give back to him into a canvas. A way of trying to show the light that shone from his being. The love that he radiates for the world. In this painting he is listening to his "faithful ward" play the piano. He is bemused and overjoyed. He is light.
