This is a painting of my husband Edgar-Arturo and our dog Xula. It was painted during the pandemic when the only access to the outside world was via our cell phones. I wanted to capture the longing for connection to the outside world in contrast to the bright and saturated colors of the interior. Is the source of light the cellphone, or is the source of light the hope that we held on to that we would be able to reconnect with our friends and families again. This image made me understand not only my husband's vulnerability to isolation, but also how others were dealing with the disconnection and interruption to our daily routines.
