Our assignment in art class was to do a portrait of a class mate. Jacek agreed to sit for me. He was an accomplished painter and gave me advice as I, new at painting, tried to figure out how to do a portrait. I, a suburban soccer mom at the time, he an urban tattoo artist, in art class we were the same, students, immersed in our assignments and passionate about art. I’m so grateful for all the friends from different corners I have made through the art over the years.
