Each person I paint is an opportunity to recreate a moment in time and bring a new interpretation into the world. Each portrait is a study of a unique life. I paint people first and foremost for my own experience. This is the best way I can describe someone and tell a story of this person for the viewer. I follow the sitter’s character with the movement of my lines. The choices I make in color and the rhythm of the brush strokes set the tone of emotion. I don’t judge the portrait as I paint. I try to let it come alive of its own accord and evolve of its own will.
