I watched a documentary about Bob Dylan's life recently and was drawn to painting him in his earlier years. The gold and blue background is from a painting that my late aunt created. It seemed right to superimpose Bob in presumably used clothing onto a previously painted canvas and I think that my aunt would have approved. I always try to capture the depth of expression in my subjects. This is my favorite painting to date. I am self taught and started painting last year.
