In drawing my grandma, I wanted to capture her youth against a background of daffodils to honour her love of flowers. While I was drawing, I experienced a connection to her resilient spirit and part of myself and many generations of women before us. I felt a deep sense of calm as I connected to the essence of her strength and grace facing a lifetime of grief and hardship.
