This is my 할머니 (Halmuni in Korean), my grandma. She is 92 years young and my last surviving grandparent. She is a lot of things to me but most of all, she is my inspiration. After spending a lifetime taking care and raising her family, living through occupation and war, my grandma started her art career late in life (in her 70s). I’ve been really lucky to have inherited her artistic streak and wanted to paint this tribute to her. I would love to be able to share this portrait with others in my community. Thank you.
