The young girl was part of the first celebration of Day of the Dead in San Rafael since Covid and she had both poise and a sense of herself that I found drew me to try to capture her essence. She really stood out from the rest of her group. I have been to quite a few Day of the Dead celebrations in San Francisco, but wanted to go to the Canal District to see the festival where I live.
