This is a portrait of the artist's mother. Remembered of her at a joyful time, during the graduation of one of her granddaughters.
The artist, Brenda Demus, passed away in 2018. She was a SF resident for most of her life, and became one of the few (at the time) black female architects. She had always maintained her artistic spirit and worked many mediums (watercolors in particular, though this submittal is an oil).
